Community Events

Michael Smuin’s work is renowned for its accessibility, bridging classical ballet and contemporary dance for modern audiences. Smuin Ballet's outreach program is designed to provide access to live performances to all members of the community regardless of financial means.

Efforts are focused in three ways. First, complimentary tickets are distributed through Community Access Ticket Service (CATS), which partners with over 350 Bay Area community-based organizations. This program provides an opportunity for low-income and disabled individuals of all ages to attend cultural and recreational events.

Second, half-price “rush” tickets are made available to students, seniors, and members of the military one hour before performances.

Finally, through the generosity of Target, we are able to offer "buy-one, get-one-free" tickets as part of  Target Family Time Matinees at the Lesher Center in Walnut Creek, in partnership with the Diablo Regional Arts Association. This program helps make the arts accessible and affordable for children and families.

We hope to bring this program to our venues in San Francisco, Mountain View, and Carmel during our 2009/2010 Season!
