21_season_gOur UNBELIEVABLE 2014/15 season is jam packed with fresh and exhilarating new works as well as some of our popular ballets, that were specially handpicked to compliment the season and we are truly thrilled to bring them back to the stage!

UNTAMEDThe UNTAMED Dance Series will feature the West Coast and Smuin Ballet premiere of Serenade for Strings, choreographed by the talented Garett Ammon. This unique interpretation of P.I. Tchaikovsky’s iconic score has been beautifully created to strike the senses and emotions.

Next up is the return of Michael Smuin’s spicy, Frankie & Johnny. The Latin and Mambo music paired with this classic story of love gone wrong has always greatly resonated with Smuin Ballet fans.

Also on the program is the remount of choreographer-in-residence Amy Seiwert’s Objects of Curiosity, which premiered on Smuin Ballet in the fall of 2007. This breathtaking work is set to music by Philip Glass and Foday Musa Suso and truly showcases the talents of our beautiful artists!

UNTAMED will be performed at the Palace of Fine Arts October 3-11 2014 and throughout the Bay Area March 13-28 2015.

UNCORKED The ChristmasUNCORKED Ballet is the festive holiday tradition that you have grown to expect and love! This consistently changing and vastly popular work is a hit with audiences of all ages and truly has something for everyone.

Act one, the “Classical Christmas” is made up of various pieces of music by famous composers such as Prokofiev, Schubert, Handel, as well as traditional warm holiday music. In the second act we bring you the “Cool Christmas”, which has a contrasting Broadway flare and showcases some widely known toe tapping beats by vocal artists including the likes of Elvis, Eartha Kitt, Bing Crosby, and Harry Connick Jr.

Smuin Ballet will perform UCORKED from November 21 thru to December 27th. Don’t delay getting your Tickets as this program often gets quite close to selling out!

UNLACED2Our UNLACED Dance Series features the much anticipated return of Smuin Ballet audience favorites – Michael Smuin’s timeless love duet, the Romeo and Juliet Balcony Pas de Deux and Helen Pickett’s stunning work, Petal that wowed audiences when it was last performed by Smuin Ballet in the Spring 2013. Also returning is Smuin’s Hearts Suite, which is set to the remarkable music of Edith Piaf; this piece was inspired by the 1945 French Film “Les Enfants du Paradis”, directed by Marcel Carné.

Lastly, we are extremely delighted to announce that international choreographer Adam Hougland will be creating a world premiere on our beautiful dancers! After receiving rave reviews for his incredible work, Cold Virtues when Smuin Ballet performed it on our 2012/13 season, we could not be more thrilled to have Hougland back to create a very distinctive piece on Smuin Ballet.
