Terez Dean Orr has danced with Smuin since 2008, but it took a pandemic to get her into the choreographer’s chair!  Sabali is Terez’s very first foray into choreography, and she struck gold on her first attempt. A colorful work that captures the celebratory side of dance, Sabali features Company Artists Tess Lane, John Speed Orr, and Max van der Sterre.

Reflecting on the experience, Terez shared, “I was fortunate enough to work with individuals that I am incredibly close to and comfortable with, allowing a safe and fun environment to experiment movement. Not to mention the dream it has been to finally collaborate with Smuin’s lighting wizard Michael Oesch. His eye and passion that he brings to the stage makes any piece come to life.” Want to hear more from Terez? Check out her Meet the Artist interview here!

Sabali is generously sponsored by Ms. Andrea Eichhorn, “in honor of my mom, who instilled in me love for dance and all of the arts.” Thank you, Andrea!
