Choreographed by frequent Smuin collaborator Trey McIntyre, Wild Sweet Love had its Smuin premiere as part of Dance Series 2 in Spring 2025.
Writing in the San Francisco Chronicle, Steven Winn said of Wild Sweet Love:
“With an ebullient, slightly mad Cassidy Isaacson in the lead, Trey McIntyre’s Wild Sweet Love (2007) made a big, broad impact to close the show. The piece features a gaggle of brides in wedding gowns and white gloves and their male escorts dressed for action in tennis shorts and bow ties (witty costumes by the choreographer). The famous Felix Mendelssohn ‘Wedding March’ shares air time with a Mexican love song and the Partridge Family’s theme ‘I Think I Love You.’ Anything goes, from jitterbug to grappling partner work, in this zany, love-crazed, zestily performed nightcap.”
