Tangentfit is the latest brainchild of Smuin alumna Susan Roemer, the founder of Bay Area dancewear and costuming label S-Curve Apparel & Design. She has designed costumes for Smuin, including Val Caniparoli’s If I Were a Sushi Roll, renamed Caught on Camera for 2021 and Nicole Haskins’ Poetry of Being. Last year Roemer launched her new brand, Tangentfit and Smuin and Roemer collaborated to introduce two custom colors for her collection, a rich burgundy and a deep blue.

All Smuin x TF garments are made to order and have a Smuin tag. A portion of each sale goes directly to Smuin. When you shop Smuin x TF, you are supporting a local designer/maker and helping an arts nonprofit (Smuin!).

If you want to see Tangentfit costumes in action, check out Rewind Wednesday, which opens July 7, 2021 with Bird’s Song choreographed by Ian Buchanan and Maggie Carey. It’s a classical quartet danced by Company Artists Ian Buchanan, Maggie Carey, Mengjun Chen, and Lauren Pschirrer, set to String Quartet in G Minor Op. 10 by Claude Debussy and Serenata alla Spagnola by Alexander Borodin, both performed by Borodin Quartet.
