See Ballet Differently

Soaring works, new commissions and the return of Smuin Company dancers’ own Choreography Showcase highlight our critically acclaimed artistry and talent!

22/23 Season is headlined by a mixed repertoire program including the pandemic-delayed world premiere created by Cuban choreographer Osnel Delgado, crowd-favorite Take Five choreographed by Rex Wheeler (aka Lady Camden, RuPaul’s Drag Race finalist) set to the music of jazz pianist Dave Brubeck, and Requiem for a Rose by renowned choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa.

Smuin’s fiercely festive 2022 edition of The Christmas Ballet returns. It is our gift to the Bay Area showcasing Smuin’s exquisite signature style in a dazzling program of ballet, contemporary, character, Broadway jazz, and tap in two acts.

Choreography Showcase 2023 puts the artistic reins in the hands of our Company Artists! In this intimate, in-house performance, our dancers premiere new works created on one another and collaborate on lighting, stagecraft and costumes.

Our season finale is a quadruple bill presenting two new works created by women– Amy Seiwert’s world premiere and a company premiere by Kate Skarpetowska, who Dance Magazine named one of “25 to Watch,” plus Val Caniparoli’s ingenious Swipe and Michael Smuin’s striking Dream.

When Smuin steps onto the stage again, see ballet differently.
